STATEMENT
I have the skill set that would be beneficial for the role of Director, Legal Affairs and Secretary of AmCham Dubai.
- Knowledge of the UAE legal environment. I have advised foreign and regional companies on the UAE legal environment to operate a businesses in the UAE and gained insight into factors and considerations that would impact business decisions. I would be able to understand AmCham members’ interests and identify how they can be advanced from a legal perspective.
- Past experience as Director, Legal Affairs and Secretary of AmCham Dubai. I have a clear understanding of AmCham Dubai’s objectives and operations. I can continue to ensure that AmCham Dubai follows good governance practice as set out below (among others):
- ensure that AmCham Dubai acts in accordance with governance documents.
- b. review and draft documents (e.g. MOUs, agreements) that protect AmCham Dubai’s interests.
- c. draft and keep a record of the minutes of board meetings.
- d. ensure that board members are aware of (and comply with) their duties.
ABOUT
Kanan Kasuya is a corporate lawyer at Norton Rose Fulbright (Middle East) LLP. She advises regional and international companies on corporate transactions including cross-border mergers and acquisitions, private equity, joint ventures, corporate (re)organizations and general corporate, commercial and compliance matters.
Kanan has worked in the region for over ten years. She has knowledge of local laws and practice as well as experience interacting with governmental authorities in the UAE.
