Born in Japan and raised in the Middle East, with education in Canada, she is currently based in Dubai, UAE. Her multilingual abilities encompass English, Japanese, Arabic, and French.
Kanan started her legal journey as an intern at Afridi & Angell before officially joining the firm in 2014. Prior to that, she gained valuable experience through internships at legal clinics affiliated with the University of Montreal and McGill University in Montreal, Canada, as well as at a respected law firm in Cairo, Egypt.
She is a Corporate Lawyer holding dual qualifications in Quebec, Canada, and England and Wales. Her expertise lies in cross-border transactions, such as mergers and acquisitions and international joint ventures, corporate structuring, reorganizations, data protection, and a wide spectrum of corporate, commercial, and compliance matters.
Kanan has a strong passion for the development of the waste and energy management sector and environmental services within the GCC region, particularly focusing on the Saudi Arabian market. Her interests revolve around cross-border transactions and projects in KSA.
