Round Table Discussion with Director of the Advocacy Center at the U.S. Department of Commerce
Thursday, December 13 @ 12:30 pm - 2:30 pm
Please join AmCham Dubai and the U.S.-U.A.E. Business Council for an exclusive round table discussion with Mr. Stephen Renna, Director of the Advocacy Center at the U.S. Department of Commerce in Washington, DC.
Mr. Renna was appointed by President Trump in September 2017 as Director of the Advocacy Center at the U.S. Department of Commerce in Washington DC. In conjunction with his visit to the region, he would like to hear from senior business executives about issues and obstacles they face when bidding on major projects in the U.A.E. and elsewhere in the broader region. After providing a brief overview of his office and its activities, Mr. Renna welcomes first hand feedback on U.S. company experiences with the bidding process in the UAE, and how his office in cooperation with the U.S. Consulate and Embassy, can support American companies as they bid on major projects.
Based in Washington, D.C., the Advocacy Center coordinates U.S. government interagency advocacy efforts on behalf of U.S. exporters bidding on public-sector contracts with overseas governments and government agencies. The Center works very closely with the GM/CS network of domestic Export Assistance Centers and Commercial Offices within U.S. diplomatic missions overseas.
The Advocacy Center helps to ensure that sales of U.S. products and services have the best possible chance to compete abroad. Advocacy assistance is wide and varied but often involves American companies that request U.S. Government support to communicate on their behalf the importance of having a level playing field to compete on the basis of commercial considerations and capability, to foreign government entities or enterprises with a competitive bidding process.
